The Upper Crust Sandwich Shoppe

This place was pretty good. I didn't go with the recommendations, so I might have done it to myself. My wife had the pastrami sandwich, which was awesome. I had the Italian grinder which was average. The potato salad was also average. I recommend trying the chicken salad sandwich or the pastrami. The staff was super friendly and tje environment was also pretty cool.

I had googled gourmet sandwiches near me and found this spot tucked away near Mission Inn...the owner and staff greeted us with a warm friendly smile! The food was delicious! Between our guests we had the pastrami sandwich with a bowl of chili (recommended by the owner), turkey and avocado on squaw, ham and avocado on squaw both of which were accompanied with a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup! All of which were DELICIOUS!! I would definitely recommend and I will be visiting again soon!

I don’t know which was better, the food of the service! Will definitely be coming back. Got the chicken salad sandwich and it was so good!!

I’ve been visiting The Upper Crust for years, and I’ve never been disappointed. Although I live in Sacramento, I frequently travel to Riverside for work, and whenever I’m here, the egg salad sandwich from The Upper Crust is an absolute must. If you love egg salad, trust me, this will be one of the best you’ve ever had. My recommendation is to get it on a roll with cheddar cheese—perfection! The service is consistently excellent. The staff is incredibly friendly, and you can tell they truly value customer service. Once they learn your name, they’ll use it every time you visit, which adds a nice personal touch. The restaurant itself is cozy, but they have a lovely outdoor patio where you can enjoy your meal while people-watching.

This is a down to earth, old school sandwich shop in the heart of Riverside. It felt like I went back in time, small shop, super friendly service and food was great. Not sure how you totally nail an Italian sandwich, but it was really good, may blend they had in it made it better than most sandwiches I’ve had. Lots of choices for the side and I wouldn’t normally choose the chili but this time I did and it didn’t disappoint. Very flavorful and just the right amount in a side cup. If you are a sandwich guy like me and like to support non-chain and local business, this place is for you. If we had more places like this, the chain restaurants would go out of business.

Yum! Had the veggie sandwich (with bacon haha) on squaw and it was delicious! Retha the owner was so sweet and even threw in a homemade cookie! Plus, I sat and enjoyed the food on the sunny patio with a view of the Main Street mall. Why go to a chain when you can come to a local shop like this?

Service was amazing. The gentleman in the front was so kind. The sandwich and soup were just as amazing. I can't believe I've lived here for so long and haven't tried this place sooner. I will definitely make this my regular. We got a tuna sandwich with a side of chicken soup both were a 10/10. I would definitely recommend

Took my kids Sunday mid day, and we loved this place. The owner was very friendly. We had chicken salad sandwiches on squaw bread. The pasta salad was so fresh and al dente , it was delicious. We ate outside and the music from the next restaurant made it enjoyable. My kids loved it, will be back for sure.
